Argentine artists Rei and Mala Semilla release new urban music projects
Argentine musical artists Rei and Mala Semilla have released new projects that explore the evolution of urban genres, ranging from classic hip hop to contemporary trap.
Rei has launched ‘TURROTACTICO: RAÍZ’, the first chapter of a multi-part musical saga produced by Koki LS. The eight-song project returns to the roots of trap, blending street-style lyrics with melodic arrangements and acoustic guitars. The album features collaborations with Callejero Fino and T&K, and includes the personal track ‘Vivir el ahora’, which pays tribute to the artist’s musical grandfather.
Mala Semilla, a group consisting of brothers Damián and Adrián Lanzillotta, has released the EP ‘Referentes’ to mark three decades in the Rosario hip hop scene. The project offers two versions of its work: a main version that utilizes classic beats, heavy drums, and organic guitars, and a second version that adapts their sound to modern trap influences. The group has been a staple of independent production since the mid-1990s.
