Argentine athletes named to national teams for upcoming competitions

Several Argentine athletes have been selected for national team duties. For the South American Games Santa Fe 2026, scheduled for September 12 to 26, the Argentine Olympic Committee has officially named its roster. Among the 658 athletes are Iñaki Serrano Esper, competing in men’s track cycling sprint; Jennifer Francone, participating in women’s track cycling (team pursuit and Madison) and individual road cycling; and Malena Santillán, who will compete in four swimming events: 400m freestyle, 200m backstroke, 800m freestyle, and the 4x200m freestyle relay. Additionally, Helena Cugno has been called up to the women’s volleyball national team.

In basketball, Celina Novatti has been summoned to the Argentina U18 national team. She is part of a 15-player group participating in a development campus in Río Negro, aimed at preparing for the 2027 U19 World Cup. The training session, organized by the Argentine Basketball Confederation, will take place in Las Grutas and San Antonio Oeste from September 7 to 14.
