Argentine banks offer varying interest rates for fixed-term deposits
Argentine financial institutions are offering varying annual nominal rates (TNA) for traditional fixed-term deposits (plazo fijo). As of August 11, 2026, a survey of 29 entities shows significant differences in the capital required to reach specific interest targets.
Banco Provincia offers a TNA of 19.50%, requiring an investment of approximately $12,478,631 to earn $200,000 in monthly interest. In contrast, Santander Argentina and Banco Patagonia offer a lower TNA of 16%, necessitating $15,208,331 for the same monthly return. Other major banks include BBVA Argentina at 18.25% and ICBC at 17.70%.
Banco Ciudad maintains a TNA of 17% for retail deposits. An investment of $2,000,000 at Banco Ciudad for 30 days yields a total of $2,027,945, representing a monthly return of 1.4%. This rate currently trails the July consumer price index (IPC) reported by INDEC, which rose to 2.1% from 1.9% in June.
