Argentine basketball league undergoes structural changes for 2026/27 season

The structure of Argentina's Liga Nacional de Básquet (LNB) will undergo changes for the 2026/27 season. The Asociación de Clubes de Básquetbol (AdC) confirmed that the league will feature 18 teams following a series of franchise movements.

Unión de Santa Fe will move from the LNB to the Liga Argentina for the upcoming season. The club will occupy the vacancy left by Rivadavia Básquet, which officially resigned its spot. Due to the way these vacancies are being handled, the spot previously held by Unión de Santa Fe in the top tier will remain with the central organization rather than being transferred to another club.

In Bahía Blanca, the clubs 9 de Julio and Bahiense del Norte have announced a merger to form Unión Bahía. This new entity aims to represent the city in the Liga Nacional de Básquet Femenina, the highest level of women's basketball in the country.
