Argentine basketball preseason and regional tournament schedules announced

The 2026 Clausura Torneo de Ascenso for basketball in Mendoza is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, August 18. The tournament features nine teams, including Independiente Rivadavia, Pedro Molina, and UNCuyo, competing for a direct promotion to the 2027 Superliga or a spot in the revalidation playoffs. The competition format involves a double round-robin phase where the top eight teams advance to playoffs. Notably, there will be no relegation this season.

In separate basketball news, Club de Regatas Corrientes will begin its preseason on August 18 in preparation for the 2026/27 Liga Nacional de Básquetbol and the Liga Sudamericana. Under the direction of new head coach Martín Villagrán, the team will start training at the club's gym before moving to the Club Alvear stadium. This marks the club's 23rd consecutive season in Argentina's top-tier basketball league.
