Argentine businesses close amid falling consumption and rising costs

Multiple businesses in Argentina are closing due to declining consumer spending and rising operational costs.

The wholesale chain Diarco has closed its branch in Jáuregui, Luján, resulting in the loss of approximately 30 jobs. This follows recent closures in Zárate and Tres Arroyos as the company undergoes restructuring to concentrate on more profitable locations. In Zárate, a location that had been open for only six months was discontinued because revenue failed to cover operating costs.

In Patagonia, the historic Plaza Bar in Cipolletti has also ceased operations. The owner cited a combination of a consumption crisis and excessive rent increases following the expiration of the lease as the primary reasons for the closure. The establishment had served as a local landmark for 14 years.
