Argentine Chemist Omar Azzaroni Wins 2026 Bunge y Born Prize

Researcher Omar Azzaroni of CONICET La Plata and the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Physical‑Chemical Investigations (INIFTA) was awarded the 2026 Fundación Bunge y Born Prize in Chemistry, the highest annual distinction given by the foundation since 1964. The jury highlighted his international standing in soft‑matter and nanotechnology research and his role in establishing a national community of soft‑matter chemists.

The award ceremony will take place on Monday 14 September at the Sala Argentina of the Palacio Libertad in Buenos Aires. Fellow CONICET scientists Daiana Capdevila and Marcos Tascon will receive the Premio Estímulo at the same event. Azzaroni previously earned the 2012 Houssay Prize and the 2013 Konex‑Diploma for his contributions to chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology.
