Argentine clubs dispute player transfers and training moves

Former River Plate president Rodolfo D’Onofrio broke his silence on the club’s recent handling of players sent to a training centre in Cantilo by sporting director Stefano Di Carlo. D’Onofrio said the decision was a mistake, defended the facility’s quality and announced that the first‑team squad will train there within three months.

San Martín de San Juan president Jorge Miadosqui warned Independiente that the recent transfer of forward Matías Giménez was a concealed sale intended to evade debts. San Martín claims a $2.5 million loss and says it will pursue legal action, accusing Independiente of breaching a $1.5 million penalty clause tied to the player’s contract.
