Argentine couple completes two trips around the world in single-engine plane
Claudio Robetto and Betina Raimondi, a married couple from Mar del Plata, Argentina, have completed two circumnavigations of the globe in a 1978 Mooney M20J single-engine aircraft. Known online as “Aventureros del aire,” the pair accumulated a total of 106,711 kilometers and 481 flight hours across 261 days of travel.
The first journey took place in 2023, covering approximately 60,000 kilometers over 124 days. Their itinerary included stops in Brazil, Venezuela, the United States, Canada, Greenland, Scotland, Spain, Italy, Germany, and Russia. The second journey concluded on September 1, 2024, following a departure from Mar del Plata on April 17.
Robetto, a private pilot and metallurgical engineer, piloted the aircraft, while Raimondi, an agronomist, managed logistics, planning, and audiovisual documentation. The couple achieved this goal after years of saving and following a passion for aviation that began when they met in 1989.
