Argentine court denies work request for Felicitas Alvite

A court in La Plata, Argentina, has rejected a request by Felicitas Alvite to leave her home for work. Alvite, known as ‘La Toretto de La Plata’, is currently under house arrest facing charges of ‘homicide with eventual intent’ following a fatal traffic incident involving motorcyclist Walter Armand.

Her defense team requested permission for her to work two days a week at a law firm to help finance her private law studies and repay family loans. However, the Tribunal Oral en lo Criminal N° 2 denied the request unanimously. The judges cited the proximity of her upcoming trial, scheduled for November 2026, as a significant flight risk.

Additionally, the court noted that Alvite is not wearing an electronic monitoring device, meaning her movements cannot be strictly tracked during commutes. The prosecution and the victim's family lawyers also opposed the motion, arguing that the upcoming trial phase requires stricter judicial control rather than expanded freedom.
