Argentine courts award compensation in divorce and property disputes

Argentine courts have issued significant rulings regarding economic compensation and property rights following domestic separations.

In Azul, the Civil and Commercial Court No. 3 ordered a man to pay a woman USD 22,500. The ruling recognized her right to 50% of the value added by a house built on land owned by her former partner's father. The couple had lived there since 2012, contributing financially to the construction and improvements, though the land was never officially subdivided as originally intended.

In Mar del Plata, the Court of Appeals granted a woman over 18 million pesos in compensation following her divorce after 25 years of marriage. The court found that she suffered an economic imbalance because she abandoned her teaching career and hospital position to manage domestic duties and assist in family businesses. While her former spouse continued to exploit the family business, the woman was left without consolidated pension contributions at age 54.
