Argentine courts issue rulings on assault and sexual abuse cases
In separate legal developments in Argentina, judicial authorities have issued rulings regarding criminal convictions and parole requests.
A man was sentenced by the Dolores Correctional Court No. 3 for two counts of minor injuries involving a knife. Judge Jorge Martínez Mollard imposed a six-month prison sentence, which was replaced by semi-detention and unpaid community service. The ruling also established a 200-meter exclusion zone and prohibited the defendant from contacting or harassing the two victims via any communication platform.
Meanwhile, the Court of Appeals and Guarantees in Criminal Matters in Azul denied a request for parole for a man from Olavarría convicted of sexual abuse. Despite defense arguments citing good behavior, studies, and health issues, the judges—Gustavo Agustín Echevarría, Carlos Paulino Pagliere, and Damián Pedro Cinico—upheld the denial. The court cited an unfavorable psychological report that noted a lack of empathy and an egocentric subjective position, concluding that the conditions for social reintegration were not met.
