Argentine courts issue sentences for attempted murder and sexual abuse
In separate legal developments in Argentina, two men have received sentences for violent crimes.
In Tapso, Fernando Quiroga, 35, was sentenced to 10 years and 6 months in prison for the attempted murder of his former partner. The attack occurred when the 20-year-old victim was sleeping at a relative's home. Quiroga had been a fugitive until his arrest in October 2024 in Santiago del Estero. The court classified the crime as attempted homicide aggravated by treachery, domestic relationship, and gender violence.
In Buenos Aires, Eduardo Alejandro García, 59, received a suspended three-year prison sentence after admitting to 15 counts of simple sexual abuse. The crimes took place between 2018 and 2023, involving three female victims, including a minor who was under his care. The abuses occurred during massage sessions. The sentence was reached through an abbreviated trial in Tribunal N°25.
