Argentine courts order emergency health coverage for dismissed worker and disability beneficiaries

A labour court in Corrientes ordered an employer to reinstate a dismissed employee and to maintain her full medical coverage after she was let go during the post‑operative period for a chronic kidney condition. Judge Rodrigo Orrantía issued an urgent protective measure requiring the company to pay the necessary health‑insurance contributions or assume the cost of her treatment.

In a separate ruling, Federal Judge Miguel Hugo Vaca Narvaja in Córdoba ordered the national health program Pami and the Incluir Salud scheme to regularise the payment chain for disability benefits within 72 hours. The decision mandates the settlement of all outstanding invoices – some delayed by up to five months – to prevent interruptions of medication and treatment for beneficiaries of non‑contributory pensions with certified disabilities. Both judgments stress that health and life rights trump economic considerations.
