Argentine deputies face scrutiny over legislative absences

Argentine deputies from Santa Fe are facing scrutiny following absences during legislative sessions. National Deputy Gisela Scaglia faced criticism after a video surfaced showing her at a spa, coinciding with a session in the Chamber of Deputies that failed to reach a quorum. The session was intended to debate the continuity of DNU 70/2023, disability emergency measures, and family debt legislation. Scaglia defended her absence, denying any political agreement with President Javier Milei.

In the Santa Fe Legislature, Deputy Amalia Granata addressed accusations regarding her absences by presenting physical evidence of recent medical procedures. Granata stated that her absences were due to health treatments rather than leisure, noting that recent test results confirmed her lesions were benign. She used the opportunity to encourage women to undergo regular medical screenings.
