Argentine Deputy Ana María Ianni Demands Answers on Intercargo Privatization and Patagonia Base Closures
National deputy Ana María Ianni of Santa Cruz presented a resolution urging the Argentine executive to explain the status of Intercargo after the Ministry of Economy declared the public tender for its privatization deserted. The proposal asks why no offers were received, what alternative plan the government will pursue under the Ley de Bases, and the reasons for shutting the operational bases in Río Gallegos and Comodoro Rivadavia. It also seeks clarification on the removal of wide‑body aircraft equipment from most Argentine airports and whether further airport operations may be reduced or closed. Ianni warned that the closures threaten air connectivity vital for tourism, production and essential services in Patagonia and highlighted uncertainty for more than 1,500 Intercargo workers.
