Argentine Deputy Horacio Pietragalla Corti confronts police
National Deputy Horacio Pietragalla Corti, representing Unión por la Patria, engaged in a heated confrontation with Buenos Aires City Police near the National Congress. The incident occurred when Pietragalla attempted to prevent officers from seizing merchandise from a street vendor with a disability who was selling strawberries and avocados.
Video footage of the encounter shows the legislator identifying himself and arguing that the vendor was working to support his children. During the exchange, physical shoving occurred between the deputy and one of the officers. While the deputy maintained he was defending a worker's livelihood, police reports noted alleged verbal aggression from the legislator toward the agents.
According to government sources, the vendor was issued a misdemeanor citation and his goods were ultimately confiscated. The incident has drawn criticism from political figures, including Deputy Lucía Cámpora, who directed accusations toward Buenos Aires City Government Chief Jorge Macri regarding the police operation.
