Argentine Deputy Jorge Araujo Calls for PAMI Fraud Probe in Tierra del Fuego

National deputy Jorge "Koky" Araujo submitted a request to the Chamber of Deputies' Health Committee to create a sub‑commission investigating alleged irregularities in the management of PAMI (the public health insurance for retirees) in the province of Tierra del Fuego. Araujo said he has compiled documentation that shows billing for medical services that were never performed, including fertility tests ordered for patients in their eighties and studies requiring equipment that does not exist in Río Grande. He alleged possible diversion of roughly 1.5 billion Argentine pesos and called for scrutiny of doctors, medical centres and both current and former public officials. The evidence has already been forwarded to several bodies, including the UFI PAMI office in Buenos Aires.
