Franco Colapinto navigates mixed practice sessions at Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Franco Colapinto, driving for Alpine, has begun the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku with mixed results during the practice sessions. After finishing 18th in the first practice, the Argentine driver improved to 11th in the second session. Despite the progress, Colapinto noted that he is struggling with consistency and comfort in the car, particularly regarding braking and cornering.

In a separate reflection on his career, Colapinto revealed that his initial transition to Formula 1 with Williams in 2024 was a financial loss. He explained that while he received 10,000 euros per race, the costs for travel for himself, his family, and his management team resulted in him being “in the negative” after each weekend, describing the period as an investment in his career.

Regarding team dynamics, Colapinto addressed recent tensions and social media hostility following an incident with teammate Pierre Gasly in Spain. He advocated for professionalism, stating that competitive issues should remain within the team and calling for an end to online hatred directed at drivers and their families.
