Argentine educational authorities issue directives on climate prep and ESI

In Entre Ríos, the General Council of Education (CGE) has issued a directive to all school supervisors and directors to intensify the cleaning and preventive maintenance of storm drains. This measure is a response to forecasts of heavy rainfall associated with the El Niño phenomenon, aiming to prevent infrastructure damage such as leaks, humidity, and flooding.

Schools are tasked with performing basic cleaning using their own staff. If issues exceed local capacity, requests will be escalated to Departmental Directorates for potential funding from Technical Units or, in cases of serious structural failure, to the Directorate of Infrastructure and Equipment.

In Mendoza, the General Directorate of Schools (DGE) has responded to a controversy regarding Comprehensive Sexual Education (ESI) at the San Luis Gonzaga College. Cecilia Páez, Director of Secondary Education, defended the implementation of Law 26.150, stating that ESI contents are part of a progressive educational plan that schools must follow.

Páez addressed a case where a parent withdrew four daughters from the institution due to disagreements with the curriculum. She noted that while private and religious institutions have institutional ideologies, they must still comply with the legal framework of ESI, and emphasized that families have established channels to review pedagogical proposals.
