Argentine energy professionals abroad consider returning home

A survey of 183 senior Argentine energy professionals working abroad indicates that 54% consider it probable or very probable that they will return to Argentina within the next three years. Among those surveyed, 14% are actively evaluating a return, while 40% are open to doing so if presented with the right professional opportunity.

The study, conducted by the executive talent firm NUMAN, highlights a potential solution to the specialized labor shortage facing Argentina's energy sector, particularly regarding projects in Vaca Muerta, LNG development, and energy infrastructure. The primary drivers for the initial migration were international exposure (59%), better salary conditions (54%), and quality of life and security (51%).

For a return to occur, professionals have specific requirements: 85% prioritize executive or managerial roles, 65% seek compensation in hard currency, 48% expect family relocation coverage, and 42% demand contractual guarantees. The survey included professionals residing in 33 different countries, with 43% currently working for international operators.
