F1 driver Franco Colapinto robbed during Italian vacation

Formula 1 driver Franco Colapinto, who competes for Alpine, reported being a victim of theft during his summer break in Italy. The incident occurred while the Argentine driver was vacationing near Lake Como.

Colapinto shared the news on social media, noting that his clothes, luggage, and personal items, including his 'matera' (a traditional South American mate kit), were stolen. He addressed the incident with irony, posting on Instagram, “Who would have thought Europeans would steal everything from a Latino?” and later remarking, “And in Argentina, I was never robbed! #SaferThanEurope.”

The theft has drawn significant attention from his followers and sparked online discussions regarding safety in Europe compared to South America. Colapinto is scheduled to return to racing at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort starting August 21.
