Argentine Federal Chamber rejects investor appeals in Libra crypto case

The Federal Chamber of Appeals in Argentina has rejected appeals from four investors seeking to be recognized as complainants in the investigation regarding the alleged Libra cryptocurrency fraud. The investors—Martín Romeo, Matías Alejandro Paris, Juan Patricio Marchetto, and Alan Vega—attempted to challenge a previous ruling by Judge Marcelo Martínez de Giorgi that had removed them from the case following a request by lobbyist Mauricio Novelli.

The Chamber, composed of judges Mariano Llorens, Pablo Bertuzzi, and Pablo Yadarola, declared the cassation resources inadmissible, stating that the arguments provided were insufficient to enable the chosen legal channel. While the judges acknowledged that decisions excluding a complainant can be treated as a final sentence because they may cause irreparable harm by limiting the victim's ability to act as an accuser, they noted that the investors failed to demonstrate the specific legal errors required to overturn the previous decision.

The investors now face a narrow legal path, with their remaining option being to file a direct complaint with the Federal Chamber of Criminal Cassation to request a review of the denial.
