Argentine Football Association accused of unfair commercial practices

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) is facing allegations regarding its commercial management of international friendly matches. According to a report by the Burkinabé outlet FasoSports, the AFA, led by President Claudio Tapia, is accused of maximizing revenue by retaining the entirety of the earnings generated by the Argentine national team while minimizing costs for visiting federations.

The report claims that while the AFA covers basic operational costs, accommodation, and travel, it does not provide participation bonuses or share a percentage of the significant income generated by the presence of the world champions. The outlet suggests that the AFA targets mid-tier or resource-limited African nations to ensure they accept these terms.

This methodology was reportedly previously observed in the case of Mauritania, where the federation was allegedly offered only the most economical commercial flights available.
