Argentine footballer Santiago Corazza killed in Rio Negro car crash

Twenty‑year‑old Santiago Nicolás Corazza, who had played in the youth systems of Deportivo Roca and Banfield before joining Club Atlético y Social Argentinos del Norte in the regional Liga Deportiva Confluencia, died after losing control of his Ford Ka on Provincial Route 65 near Cervantes in Argentina’s Río Negro Province. The impact threw him from the vehicle and caused a severe pneumothorax; he was taken to Francisco López Lima Hospital in General Roca but succumbed to his injuries hours later.

The club issued a statement calling the loss “a deep pain” and remembered his contributions to the 2006 team. Police and forensic investigators are examining the crash scene, with rain earlier that morning cited as a possible factor that had already led to the suspension of local matches.
