Argentine footballers Luana Muñoz and Camila Gómez Ares denounce proposed false‑accusations law
Footballers Luana Muñoz and Camila Gómez Ares, together with journalist Agustina Vidal, testified before the Senate’s Women’s Banking Commission in Buenos Aires, condemning a draft “law of false accusations” promoted by senator Carolina Losada. They cited the 2021 case of former youth coach Diego Guacci, who was accused by five players of sexual harassment and psychological violence, arguing the bill would shield perpetrators and criminalise victims.
The hearing, coordinated by senator Ana Marks, also featured experts from CONICET, the Latin American Gender Justice team, and the Inter‑University Network for Gender Equality. Participants described the proposal as unconstitutional, contrary to democratic protections against gender‑based violence, and urged the Senate to reject it.
