Escalandrum marks 1,000th concert with new album launch in Mendoza
Escalandrum returns to Mendoza to present its new album “Piazzolla ’74” at the Teatro Independencia on Saturday at 21:00, celebrating a 27‑year career and its 1,000th concert. The sextet, founded in 1999 by drummer Daniel Pipi Piazzolla – grandson of Astor Piazzolla – has kept its original lineup and blends jazz, tango, folk and contemporary music. Its résumé includes recordings at Abbey Road Studios, tours in more than forty countries and fifteen albums.
On the same day, the band Mandinga will perform in Anguil at La Esquina Auge as part of the sixth edition of La Ruta del Tentempié. The event pairs traditional Cuban music with a dinner featuring Cuban mojo pork, black beans and roasted sweet potatoes. Tickets cost 35,000 ARS and include the meal and the show; drinks are extra. Mandinga’s lineup includes Viviana Dal Santo (piano), Nehuén González (bass) and other musicians who draw on the sound of Buena Vista Social Club.
