Claudia Sheinbaum condemns Argentine journalist Eduardo Feinmann's anti‑Mexican remarks

Argentine commentator Eduardo Feinmann said on his A24 program that he “detesto a los mexicanos, los detesto con mi alma” after Mexico’s elimination from the 2026 World Cup. The clip spread rapidly on social media, prompting outrage in both Mexico and Argentina.

In her morning press conference, President Claudia Sheinbaum projected the video, described Feinmann as a “pseudoperiodista” and “ally of the Mexican right”, and called his statements “indignante”. She linked him to businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego and used the episode to criticize the Mexican right.

Feinmann later issued an apology, claiming his comments were limited to football and were misinterpreted, while also rebuking Sheinbaum in the same statement. Political analysts noted the remarks further alienated the ultraright associated with Salinas.

The controversy sparked a heated debate on both sides of the border about hate speech, media responsibility, and political polarization, but no official diplomatic actions were taken.
