Argentina judicial updates: Cerimedo investigation and Vega femicide case

Argentine judicial proceedings involving political advisor Fernando Cerimedo and the femicide of Agostina Vega are seeing significant developments.

In the investigation into Cerimedo, authorities are evaluating whether to call Bolivian lawyer Nadia Beller as a witness. Beller, Cerimedo’s former partner, reportedly possesses recordings regarding alleged corruption and the source of leaked audios related to the ANDIS case. Additionally, Bolivian Vice Minister Jorge Franz García Pinto testified regarding his previous contact with Cerimedo during a political campaign. Separately, in the $Libra cryptocurrency fraud case, deputies Mónica Frade and Maximiliano Ferrarose have applied to join as plaintiffs, expressing concerns that judicial efforts are being made to delay the investigation.

In the femicide case of Agostina Vega, the primary suspect, Claudio Barrelier, provided an expanded statement. He admitted the victim entered his home but denied killing her, instead claiming he was supposed to “deliver” her to settle a drug debt involving the victim's mother. This version contradicts the prosecution's hypothesis that Barrelier lured, killed, and dismembered the teenager. The victim's grandfather has dismissed these claims as a tactic to delay the process, asserting there is no link to drug trafficking.
