Argentine labor and human rights groups hold meetings on gender and worker rights
Labor and human rights organizations in Argentina held meetings to discuss gender equality, labor rights, and political opposition to the current administration. Representatives from the CTA Autónoma and ATE met in Lanús to prepare for the 39th Plurinational Meeting of Women, Lesbians, Trans, and Non-Binary individuals scheduled for October in Córdoba.
During the regional meeting, organizers emphasized a strategy of unity to oppose the government of Javier Milei and discussed a ten-point urgent measure program to address the economic crisis. Participants also expressed opposition to lowering the age of criminal responsibility for juveniles and called for increased youth participation in addressing unemployment and precarious labor conditions.
In a separate educational initiative, the Asamblea Permanente por los Derechos Humanos (APDH) concluded a course focused on the 50-year history of labor rights and gender struggles. The program examined the impact of political persecution and union repression during the dictatorship, as well as the progress made by feminist and social movements in securing labor protections and equality since the return to democracy.
