Argentine labor leaders plan to present criticisms of Milei government to Pope

Leaders of the General Confederation of Labour (CGT) have decided to draft a document outlining criticisms of President Javier Milei’s administration to present to Pope Leo XIV during his upcoming visit to Argentina.

The document will advocate for social dialogue as a primary method for addressing the country's structural issues. The CGT leadership is also considering a fifth general strike against the current administration during the second half of November.

This decision follows tensions within the Peronist movement. During a recent summit involving figures such as Axel Kicillof, Sergio Massa, and Máximo Kirchner, union leaders expressed frustration over being excluded from high-level political discussions regarding electoral strategies for 2027. CGT officials, including Gerardo Martínez, criticized the meeting for failing to represent all sectors of the Peronist movement.
