Argentine leftist coalition faces internal rift over Bregman
Internal tensions are rising within Argentina’s Leftist Workers' Unity Front (FIT-U) following accusations from the Partido Obrero (PO) against Myriam Bregman and the Partido de los Trabajadores Socialistas (PTS).
The conflict intensified after the PTS, led by Bregman, decided to form lists for the constitutional convention elections in San Carlos de Bariloche alongside the Movimiento de los Trabajadores Socialistas (MST), excluding both the PO and Izquierda Socialista.
Leaders from the Partido Obrero have accused Bregman of attempting to break the coalition to establish a personal political position ahead of the 2027 elections. The PO has also criticized the PTS for what they describe as a tendency toward ‘peronismo’ and ‘class collaboration,’ alleging that Bregman’s political direction aligns too closely with Kirchnerism and progressive movements rather than strict leftist principles.
