Claudio Barrelier faces murder charges as Agostina Vega femicide investigation expands

The investigation into the May 2024 killing of 14‑year‑old Agostina Vega in Córdoba has led to the detention of several individuals linked to the case. Claudio Barrelier, the last person seen with the teenager, remains the primary suspect and is being held on charges of triple‑qualified homicide, including femicide. Audio released by the court shows Barrelier denying responsibility in a recorded conversation with Vega’s father, Gabriel Vega, and attempting to shift blame onto others.

Melisa Heredia, the victim’s mother, has spoken publicly, demanding a life sentence for Barrelier and accusing his entire circle of involvement. She criticized the police response after being alerted that her daughter had been taken to Barrelier’s home.

Marianela Palmero, Barrelier’s partner and mother of his 11‑year‑old daughter, was the fourth person detained on aggravated concealment charges. During her first interrogation she refused to testify, maintaining her denial of any wrongdoing. Prosecutors have also placed Soledad Andreani and Osvaldo Fassetta in preventive detention for the same offense.

The case continues to draw national attention, with prosecutors citing acoustic analyses and WhatsApp messages that suggest Palmero may have been aware of the crime that night.
