South American motorsport championships head to San Luis and Concordia

Major South American motorsport championships are heading into decisive stages this weekend. In Argentina, the Turismo Carretera championship begins its ‘Copa de Oro’ at the Rosendo Hernández Autodrome in San Luis. The event features 53 registered drivers, with Jonatan Castellano entering as the points leader. The competition marks the start of the final five races to determine the 2026 champion.

Simultaneously, the TCR South America series makes its debut at the Concordia Autodrome in Entre Ríos, Argentina. This seventh round, known as the ‘Copa Concordia Capital Nacional del Citrus’, serves as a critical step toward the season finale. The Uruguay Racing Team is expanding its presence for this event, introducing the Scuderia URT division with Peugeot 308 GTI models and managing a diverse fleet of five cars across four different brands, including Cupra, Audi, and Hyundai.

Brazilian driver Raphael Reis remains a key contender in the TCR South America championship as the series moves to the new Concordia circuit. The weekend schedule includes practice sessions, qualifying, and two main races on Sunday.
