Argentine municipalities launch waste separation initiatives
Municipalities in Argentina are implementing initiatives to improve waste management and environmental habits. In Formosa, the local government is expanding its network of ‘green points’ equipped with specialized bins. These stations are designed to facilitate the separation of dry recyclables—such as paper, cardboard, plastics, metals, and glass—from wet waste. The installation of these points aims to prevent waste from being exposed on public streets and to encourage residents to classify materials at the source.
In Trevelin, authorities have launched an educational campaign focused on the correct disposal of household waste. The initiative emphasizes three core pillars: protecting collection workers by ensuring bags are properly sealed and glass is protected, separating materials to enable recycling and composting, and adhering to established collection schedules. The campaign seeks to transform waste management from a service-only task into a shared community responsibility.
