Argentine municipalities propose new commercial and driving regulations

Municipal councils in Argentina are considering new regulations to manage local services and public safety. In Ushuaia, Councilman Nicolás Pelloli has introduced initiatives to regulate mobile tire repair services and small-scale gastronomic businesses operating out of private residences. The proposals aim to establish requirements for licensing, tax compliance, insurance, and proper waste management to ensure these emerging service models operate within legal frameworks.

In Rosario, Councilwoman Samanta Arias has proposed a project to revoke driving licenses and transport permits for individuals convicted of specific crimes. The measure would apply to taxi, bus, school transport, and digital platform drivers. For the restrictions to take effect, there must be a firm criminal conviction and a direct link between the crime and the driving activity, such as crimes committed while providing service or using the vehicle as a tool for the offense. Targeted crimes include homicide, sexual abuse, robbery, and extortion.
