Charly García celebrates 75th birthday with tributes and Netflix documentary announcement

Argentine rock icon Charly García celebrated his 75th birthday on October 23 with widespread tributes across Buenos Aires. Fans gathered outside his residence, known as the ‘Esquina Charly García’, to sing and show support, while the city hosted various concerts, film screenings, and book presentations dedicated to his career.

A private celebration was held at ‘La Fábrica’, his historic former home-studio in the Chacarita neighborhood. The event brought together prominent figures from the music and entertainment industries, including Fito Páez, Carlos Vives, Ricardo Mollo, Graciela Borges, and Mariana Fabbiani.

Coinciding with the milestone, Netflix announced the production of ‘Charly por Charly’, a documentary directed by Alejandro Hartmann and produced by Haddock Films. The project aims to explore García’s life and his profound impact on Latin American music through his own first-person perspective.
