Argentine Navy conducts integrated training in Beagle Channel
The Argentine Navy has completed an intensive week of integrated naval power training in the Beagle Channel and Tierra del Fuego. The exercises involved surface units from the Austral Patrol Division, including the fast boat ARA ‘Intrépida’ and patrol boats ARA ‘Baradero’ and ARA ‘Concepción del Uruguay’, working alongside the Marine Infantry Brigade and Naval Aviation Command.
Operational activities focused on interoperability between different naval components. These included the requalification of marine rescue swimmers through aircraft jumps and simulated casualty recovery in extremely low water temperatures. Additionally, helicopters performed vertical replenishment (VERTREP) maneuvers with surface units to test coordination and operational capacities.
To conclude the deployment, the Naval Aviation Command held public open-house events at the Ushuaia Naval Station and the Río Grande Naval Base. The demonstrations featured various aircraft, including Beechcraft B-200 Super King Air, T-34C-1 Turbo Mentor trainers, Fennec and Sea King helicopters, and the recently incorporated Lockheed P-3C Orion. These exercises aim to strengthen defense procedures and sovereignty in the southern region of the country.
