Argentine Navy rescues crew member via helicopter near Mar del Plata
The Argentine Naval Prefecture conducted a complex aerial rescue operation to assist a crew member of a Portuguese-flagged fishing vessel, the ‘Novo Virgem Da Barca’. The incident occurred approximately 230 nautical miles from Mar del Plata, outside Argentina's Exclusive Economic Zone.
The crew member, a 57-year-old Indonesian national, exhibited symptoms consistent with a stroke, including facial drooping, difficulty speaking, disorientation, and weakness in his limbs. Following medical advice from the Prefecture, a rescue team involving both an airplane and a helicopter was deployed from the Mar del Plata Air Station to perform the medical evacuation.
