Argentine official dollar closes August with cumulative increase
The official Argentine dollar closed August with a slight daily decrease of $5, settling at $1480 for purchase and $1530 for sale at Banco Nación. Despite this final dip, the official dollar saw a cumulative increase of $20 throughout the month, reflecting a deceleration in growth compared to June's 4.6% rise.
The wholesale dollar was positioned at $1477 for purchase and $1526.90 for sale, remaining below the Central Bank (BCRA) upper exchange rate limit of $1879.92. The BCRA has adjusted fluctuation bands based on recent inflation data rather than the previous 1% monthly fixed rate.
In the informal market, the blue dollar remained unchanged at $1535 for purchase and $1555 for sale, ending the month down $5 from its starting point. The gap between the blue and official rates stood at 1.63%. Meanwhile, the card dollar, applied to digital services and tourism, remained at $1989.
As part of its reserve accumulation strategy, the BCRA purchased $46 million in the MULC on the final day of the month, bringing total August purchases to $768 million. International reserves have reached $48,257 million.
