Argentine officials defend Javier Milei's rhetoric against journalists

Supporters of Argentine President Javier Milei are defending his confrontational communication style and frequent verbal attacks against journalists. Santiago Santurio, a national deputy from the La Libertad Avanza party, characterized Milei’s language as genuine, stating, “Javier is a person like any other, he speaks like we all speak.” Santurio argued that while some insults might cause rejection, they reflect the President’s authenticity compared to professional politicians.

Other allies have provided various justifications for the President's rhetoric. Alejandro Rozitchner suggested that Milei’s insults are directed at “liars, operators, and servants of crime,” claiming that “insulting those who deserve it is also management.” Additionally, Santiago Oría, a director within the Presidency, attributed media criticism to the removal of national advertising subsidies, framing journalistic scrutiny as a business reprisal. Lilia Lemoine also defended the administration, accusing journalists of victimizing themselves rather than apologizing for their own actions.
