Argentine Olympic Committee partners with Faculty for sports data science
The Argentine Olympic Committee (COA) and the Faculty have signed a five-year agreement to apply data science tools to national high-performance Olympic sports. The initiative aims to address specific technical challenges through collaboration between coaching staffs, academic teams, and data science students.
The program will begin implementation in the second half of 2026, starting with a pilot project in two disciplines. The first major milestone for the initiative is the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima.
Under the agreement, technical problems identified by coaches will serve as thesis topics for advanced data science students. Preliminary contact has already been established with national coaches from five disciplines: canoeing, sailing, fencing, tennis, and boxing. The collaboration seeks to assist in talent selection, performance analysis of both athletes and rivals, and injury identification.
