Argentine ombudsmen advocate for transport information and toll exemptions
Ombudsmen in Argentina are addressing local service and infrastructure concerns. In Paraná, Lisandro Amavet of the Defensoría del Pueblo has called for improved information transparency regarding public bus services. While the overall service quality is viewed as positive due to increased usage and fewer complaints, Amavet emphasized that users must have certain knowledge of routes, schedules, and quality to exercise their rights. He suggested publishing daily data on punctuality and frequency, providing information at bus stops, and implementing non-digital formats for elderly citizens.
In Pilar, Ombudsman Adrián Maciel has appealed to the National Ombudsman to protect local residents from toll charges at the Larena toll booth. The request follows uncertainty regarding the implementation of the Free Flow system on National Route 8, which replaces physical barriers with intelligent tolling. Maciel is seeking guarantees that manual booths and resident exemptions will be maintained for those living near the toll. While the National Directorate of Highways stated that current differential rates should be preserved, the authority may review these benefits based on usage frequency and proximity to the toll.
