Argentine pensioners protest economic policies and pension cuts

Pensioners and disability rights activists in Argentina have held demonstrations to protest economic policies and the loss of purchasing power. In Lomas de Zamora, retirees gathered at Plaza Grigera to demand a minimum pension of 1,000,000 pesos, an emergency bonus of 300,000 pesos, and the full restoration of medication coverage by PAMI.

Protesters also called for the immediate assignment of primary care physicians in the southern metropolitan area, the reopening of subsidized credit lines, and the reinstatement of social tourism programs. The demonstrations targeted the economic administration of President Javier Milei and Economy Minister Luis Caputo.

In Buenos Aires, similar protests took place at the Plaza del Congreso. Disability rights collectives joined the pensioners to demand an extension of the disability emergency law, emphasizing the need for unified social struggles in the face of current economic conditions.
