Argentine police raid homes of activists in Rosario

The Argentine Federal Police conducted raids on the homes of two activists in Rosario, reportedly linked to their social media activities and involvement with the Assembly for Palestinian Action. The activists, associated with Izquierda Socialista and the Frente de Izquierda, are accused of participating in the promotion of a documentary regarding the situation in Gaza.

Human rights organizations and academic delegates have condemned the actions as political and ideological persecution. The Assembly for Palestinian Action stated that lawyers from the APDH are intervening to investigate the causes of the raids. Additionally, delegates from the Superior de Comercio expressed solidarity with a history professor targeted in the operations, linking the incident to recent government rhetoric regarding university researchers and activists.

Critics, including Carla Deiana, have characterized the raids as an attempt at censorship and intimidation, suggesting the operations are part of a broader policy of cyber-patrolling and espionage against those critical of the government’s alignment with Israel.
