Argentine political leaders call for opposition unity and Peronist reform

Political figures in Argentina are calling for structural shifts and unity within the opposition and the Peronist movement.

In Tucumán, PRO leader Alberto Colombres Garmendia emphasized the need for opposition unity to defeat Peronism by 2027. He warned that fragmentation is the primary obstacle to success and criticized La Libertad Avanza for a perceived lack of openness toward building broad political agreements. He noted that while the ruling party holds a territorial advantage, the opposition must first overcome its internal divisions.

Separately, Vice President of the Senate Carolina Moisés expressed a distancing from Kirchnerism, stating that the movement “has nothing to offer society” in its current state. While identifying as a traditional Peronist, Moisés argued that the Kirchnerist cycle is exhausted and has become dogmatic, failing to interpret modern societal transformations. She called for a reconstruction of Peronism centered on new government plans and addressing the actual expectations of the citizenry.
