Argentine political leaders signal shifts in protest and ambition

In Argentina, political leaders are defining their stances ahead of upcoming electoral cycles and social mobilizations. Germán Báez, a leader of the Partido del Obrero in Chaco, has criticized both the administration of Javier Milei and the Peronist opposition. Báez expressed refusal to join any united front that does not challenge the IMF or defend workers' wages amidst rising economic hardship. He has called for a national mobilization, referred to as ‘la marcha de la bronca’, scheduled for September 19 to protest against economic adjustments.

Separately, provincial deputy Bruno Sarubi has indicated a shift in his political ambitions. The former mayor of La Paz stated that he does not intend to seek reelection as mayor, expressing instead an interest in pursuing roles at the provincial level. Sarubi emphasized his current focus on legislative work and noted that discussions regarding new candidates within the UCR and PRO alliance are ongoing.
