San Juan Governor Orrego Opens Expanded CAPS Búbica Health Center

Governor Marcelo Orrego inaugurated the renovated Centro de Atención Primaria de la Salud (CAPS) in the Búbica neighborhood of Rawson, San Juan. The facility grew from about 65 m² to more than 300 m², adding a digital X‑ray room, a fully equipped dental office, a laboratory, and a range of specialties including family medicine, cardiology, traumatology, nutrition and psychology.

The expansion creates roughly ten new consult rooms, increases staff from nine to twenty‑two professionals and adds pharmacy, ambulance access and an emergency sector. Orrego said the upgrade will allow around 20,000 nearby residents to receive more complex care without travelling to other centers. The project is part of the provincial plan that has now brought 22 health centers into operation or remodelled under his administration, aimed at decentralising primary health services across San Juan.

Officials present included Rawson mayor Carlos Munisaga and health ministers Amilcar Dobladez and Fernando Perea, who highlighted the modern equipment and the expected reduction in travel time, waiting lists and diagnostic delays for the community.
