Argentine retirees live full-time in converted Mercedes-Benz bus

Silvia and Sergio, a retired couple from Rosario, Argentina, have transitioned to a nomadic lifestyle by converting a 1995 Mercedes-Benz 1215 bus into a fully equipped motorhome. For over a year, they have been traveling across South America in the vehicle, which they describe as their permanent home.

The conversion project, assisted by their son, transformed the former truck spare parts vehicle into a self-sufficient living space. The interior features a kitchen, an inverter-equipped refrigerator, a washing machine, and air conditioning. To maintain autonomy while traveling far from urban centers, the couple installed four 450-watt solar panels, two 200 Ah lithium batteries, and a 500-liter potable water tank. The setup also includes a dry toilet and a gray water management system.
