Argentine rock bands celebrate legacies and milestones

Argentine rock history is highlighted by the legacy of Los Fabulosos Cadillacs and an upcoming milestone for the band Virus.

Los Fabulosos Cadillacs marked a significant step in their career on August 21, 1986, with the release of their debut album, ‘Bares y fondas’. Produced by Daniel Melingo, the album blended ska, reggae, and new wave with a distinct Buenos Aires identity. The record featured twelve tracks, including ‘Silencio, hospital’ and the emotive ‘Basta de llamarme así’, establishing the band's ability to mix diverse musical styles.

Meanwhile, the iconic band Virus will celebrate 45 years of musical trajectory with a performance at the Teatro Gran Ituzaingó on Saturday, September 26. Founded in 1981 in La Plata, Virus was a central figure in the new wave movement in Argentina following the return to democracy. The anniversary show is expected to feature classic hits such as ‘Amor descartable’ and ‘Wadu-Wadu’.
